XREAL 1S Light Blocker and Bottom-Reflection Fixes

Short answer: a light blocker helps only when room light is entering around the display optics. It will not fix every bright line or ghost image. On XREAL 1S, first correct nose-pad and temple position, test the darkest electrochromic setting, and repeat the scene in a dark room. If the reflection disappears in darkness or when you shade the gap beneath the lenses with your hand, a blocker is likely to help. If it remains in the same position in a dark room, contact XREAL support before buying an accessory.

Why bottom reflections happen

Display glasses combine a bright internal image with partially transparent optics. Light entering from below can illuminate optical surfaces and appear as a haze or duplicate edge under high-contrast content. A poor eye-to-optic position can also expose an edge that looks like reflection. These two causes need different fixes.

The six-step XREAL 1S test

  1. Clean the optical surfaces. Use the supplied clean microfiber cloth. Smears scatter light and can imitate glare.
  2. Try all three included nose-pad sizes. XREAL 1S ships with S, M, and L pads. Choose the size that centers the full display without forcing the bridge.
  3. Try the three temple positions. Small angle changes can move an optical edge out of view.
  4. Set electrochromic dimming to its darkest manual level. The 1S also offers automatic transparency, but manual dark is the cleaner diagnostic.
  5. Shade only the bottom gap with your hands. Do not touch the lenses. If the reflection drops immediately, ambient light is the likely cause.
  6. Repeat in a dark room. If the artifact remains equally strong, a light blocker is unlikely to solve it.

Which fix matches which symptom?

What you see Most useful first fix
Reflection changes with room lighting Increase dimming, change seat/window angle, then consider a bottom or full blocker
Bottom edge appears only at one wearing height Change nose-pad size and temple angle
Haze improves after cleaning Keep a dedicated microfiber cloth and avoid touching optical surfaces
Artifact is unchanged in a fully dark room Check firmware and contact XREAL support
Full image is cropped or blurry Fix alignment or prescription insert position; a blocker is not the answer

Do not assume XREAL One accessories fit XREAL 1S

The SGG SHADE One is currently labeled for XREAL One, not XREAL 1S. We are not calling it 1S-compatible until model-level fit is verified. XREAL 1S owners should compare the attachment geometry or ask us for a fit check before ordering any One-branded blocker. The same caution applies to universal blockers: “universal” describes an accessory style, not guaranteed clearance around every sensor, vent, hinge, or optical surface.

When to use a blocker

A blocker makes the most sense for movies, games, and high-contrast text in a bright cabin or room. It makes less sense while walking, navigating, or doing anything that requires awareness of the surroundings. The 1S already includes adaptive transparency; use the built-in control first, then add physical light control only for the situations that still need it.

Compatibility and instructions can change. Check the manual for your exact model before modifying, cleaning, packing, or charging it.

Questions that come up before checkout

What should XREAL owners buy first?

Start with the issue that shows up first: a blocker if visibility is the problem, a comfort accessory if heat or pressure is the problem, or grip if the frame drifts during long sessions.

Are model-specific XREAL accessories worth it?

Usually yes when you mainly use one XREAL frame. Model-specific accessories often fit cleaner than universal ones when you want the most precise solution.

Should XREAL buyers solve visibility before carry?

Usually yes. If the display is washed out or long sessions feel uncomfortable, visibility and comfort upgrades matter more than storage accessories.
