Best order of operations: correct prescription and optical alignment first, fit second, weight distribution third, then grip and light control. Accessories cannot rescue the wrong prescription insert or incorrect interpupillary alignment. Once the image is clear and centered, a few small fit tools can make long sessions much easier.
1. Choose the right prescription method
- Integrated prescription lenses: best for camera-style AI glasses such as Ray-Ban Meta when available through an authorized optical channel.
- Prescription inserts: common for display glasses such as XREAL and Rokid. They keep the outer optics unchanged but add a small amount of weight and another surface that can reflect light.
- Built-in myopia adjustment: available on some VITURE models, but it does not replace correction for every prescription, especially astigmatism or prescriptions outside the adjustment range.
Ray-Ban says Meta glasses are prescription compatible and notes that warranty coverage for third-party lens installation remains intact only when lenses are fitted by a certified retailer. XREAL says its insert frames differ across product families. VITURE provides model-specific adjustment ranges and insert sizes. Treat the exact model as part of the prescription.
2. Dial in nose-pad height before adding accessories
For display glasses, nose-pad height controls both comfort and where the image sits. XREAL 1S includes S, M, and L pads; Rokid documents adjustable memory-metal pads. Try every supplied option for at least one normal session. If the image is cropped, blurry at an edge, or requires constant head tilting, solve alignment before adding aftermarket padding.
3. Use thin grip only where movement occurs
When the image is aligned but the glasses slide, add the smallest amount of grip. Temple sleeves or ear hooks often preserve bridge height better than a thick adhesive pad. Our SGG GRIP kit gives several removable temple options; check clearance around speakers, controls, hinges, and the original case.
4. Shift weight instead of squeezing harder
Prescription inserts add mass close to the nose. If the bridge becomes sore after an hour, more grip can make the pressure worse. A weight-relief strap creates another support path at the ears and back of the head. It is most useful for desk, travel, and long viewing sessions where appearance matters less than sustained comfort.
5. Control light without changing optical alignment
Reflections off a prescription insert can become more visible in bright rooms. First clean both sides of the insert and adjust the frame. Then test built-in dimming. A removable light blocker can help when ambient light is the cause, but it cannot fix an incorrect prescription, IPD mismatch, or internal display artifact.
6. Carry the setup without lens-to-accessory contact
Keep a clean microfiber cloth in the case and place hard accessories in a separate pocket. Prescription inserts usually remain installed when the manufacturer designed the case for them. Remove bulky ear hooks, blockers, or cables if the lid needs pressure. For slim AI-style prescription glasses, the SGG VAULT offers a roomier protective layout; it is not our recommended fit for larger display glasses.
All-day checklist
- Current prescription and measured IPD.
- Correct model-specific insert or authorized integrated lenses.
- Best manufacturer nose-pad size.
- Clean, dry bridge and temple contact points.
- Removable temple grip only if needed.
- Weight relief for persistent bridge pressure.
- Light blocker only after a bright-room diagnostic.
- Hard case with no pressure on lenses or hinges.
If you develop eye strain, double vision, dizziness, numbness, or persistent pressure marks, stop the session and have the optical fit checked by a qualified eye-care professional.
